Ironing a shirt correctly – How to avoid creases and wrinkles

Many people relax while ironing, listen to music, watch a movie or enjoy a good audio book. But you shouldn't let yourself be distracted too much from the actual process, especially when ironing a shirt. Wrinkles will appear faster than you think!

Proper ironing is not only essential for everyday working life. After all, you make a good impression when your clothes are neat and tidy - whether at work, at university or in your free time.

So how exactly should you iron your shirt? What factors do you need to consider and which areas require your special attention so that you don't make any serious mistakes? After all, when ironing your bugatti shirts, you not only need to pay attention to the button placket, but also to the seams, the side seam and the cuffs.

So if you want to iron your shirt correctly, you should concentrate and follow a certain pattern. A T-shirt is easy and quick to iron. For a shirt, however, you need to plan a little more time and precision.

Where should I start?

The basis for your ironing success is, of course, your iron and ironing board. You need a secure surface on which you can place not only the middle section of the shirt, but also the sleeves and the back. If necessary, you can also iron your shirt on a smooth surface, such as a table.

If you are using an ironing board, you should pay attention to which way the tip of the ironing board is pointing. For right-handers, it should point to the left, for left-handers it is the other way around.

Your iron should also be of good quality, otherwise you may burn a hole in your shirt. A steam iron can also help to make your bugatti shirt look particularly attractive. Steam is particularly useful for smoothing out nasty creases.

Wrinkles can also be caused by the shirt being cleaned in the washing machine with a lot of other laundry. It is advisable to always wash shirts separately.

Important: It is possible for creases to accidentally appear on a shirt. These should be repaired quickly, otherwise you may not be able to get them out properly! A spray bottle with distilled water helps to correct such creases immediately.

In any case, you should repair the creases immediately and not wait until the end. This will ensure that the wrinkle does not harden further and that you can quickly undo this mistake.

Moisture is a good tip in many respects when it comes to ironing shirts. Make sure that the garment to be ironed is never completely dry. A certain amount of residual moisture has proven to be a real ironing aid - especially for shirts with a high cotton content.

This is the next step - the collar and sleeves

As already mentioned, you should iron a shirt step by step. The basic rule is: first the small areas, then the large ones. It's best to start with the collar. Although it is comparatively small and usually folded over, if there are any creases, the other person will definitely notice them.

Use your free hand to hold the collar in place and always iron from the outside towards the middle. Also make sure that the outside of the collar is on the ironing board. Once you have finished with the collar, you can move on to the sleeves.

With the right technique, you will quickly master this somewhat tricky part. Place the left sleeve of the shirt on the ironing board. The sleeve should be facing to the right - it is best to use the side seam as a guide. The sleeve should lie as flat as possible on the ironing board.

Now iron only the middle section of the sleeve. Make sure that you do not iron the cuffs and seams at first. Once you have finished this step, turn the sleeve and continue ironing on the other side. However, the cuffs and seams are now also ironed. With a little practice, this step is quickly mastered and your sleeves will soon appear wrinkle-free. Then iron the other sleeve in the same way.

Alternatively, you can of course also use a sleeve board. These are specially designed to iron the sleeves of a shirt correctly and precisely. So if you are having problems ironing your sleeves, using this accessory is an option you can consider.

ATTENTION! YOU SHOULD NEVER IRON COLLARS AND CUFFS TOO HOT. BUSINESS SHIRTS IN PARTICULAR OFTEN HAVE INSERTS IN THESE AREAS, SO IRONING ACCIDENTS ARE INEVITABLE IF YOU DON'T DOSE THE HEAT CAREFULLY

The button placket and the shoulder area

Ironing the shoulder area of your bugatti shirt is generally not a major problem. However, the advantage of a larger, stable ironing board is also noticeable here. When ironing the shoulder area, you place the inside of the shirt over the tip of the board. If you can't find an ironing board, use the edge of the table. The shoulder section can now be carefully ironed.

Ironing the button placket is now a little more difficult. This is easier to iron from the back. The reason is clear: getting the iron between all the buttons and not damaging them can be complicated, depending on the shirt model.

If you want to iron your shirt properly, rely on the right technique

These simple instructions show that there is no magic behind the right ironing technique. With a little practice, you won't need much time to iron your shirt crease-free and wrinkle-free.

Among other things, always bear in mind...

the individual texture of your shirt

the direction of the seams

Details such as buttons and co

the correct "ironing sequence"

...so that you can smooth your shirt properly. And don't panic: if creases appear despite all the care taken, they can usually be easily "ironed out" - in the truest sense of the word.

So use the reverse side to iron the button placket. This avoids the risk of touching one of the buttons with the iron. The heat can quickly deform them and damage your shirt. This is where it becomes clear: ironing correctly not only saves time, but also protects your shirts

The big spots - ironing the front and back correctly

Very good! You have now ironed all the small and difficult areas of your shirt. All that's left is the front and the back. Start with the front and begin with the side where the buttonholes are located. Now work your way towards the back piece by piece. This should not usually cause any problems.

However, many bugatti shirts are equipped with different types of pockets here. Pockets are ironed in a similar way to the collar of the shirt: from the outside in. Some shirts are also characterized by darts, which should also be ironed carefully and in small steps. Creases can occur here if the shirt is not wrinkle-free on the ironing board to begin with.

Always make sure that you iron your shirt correctly and carefully - even towards the end and in the large areas. Although the front and back are comparatively uncomplicated and quick to iron, this is precisely why unsightly creases often form here, which can quickly put a strain on your nerves when ironing.
